New oil paintings

MY LIFE is a movie. The plot is terrible, character development is erratic, and there are long tedious periods I want to fast forward through. But I love the visuals. I watch my movie from the car, random landscapes speeding past, with soundtrack. I notice the extras, characters with no speaking parts, recognized only as archetypes: people on phones, people with burdens, runners, walkers, bikers, dogs, children, and more cars.

MY PAINTINGS are stills taken from the movie and reinterpreted with paint en plein atelier.

DINERS Before 2007, I worked in a more detailed photorealistic manner for two decades. My favorite subject was the American Diner, the pre-fab, hauled to site buildings that are an icon of the 20th century, full of shiny surfaces and repeat patterns.
Acrylic PaintingsThough clearly a devotee of oil paint, I occasionally work with acylics for their quick drying easy clean up. Sometimes I use acrylic as an underpaintnig for oil, other times I keep the bright color and sharp edges for the final piece.
